Roy Ziegler is the historian for the New Hope Historical Society (New Hope, Pennsylvania). He has served on its board of directors for the past twenty-three years and as president from 2006 to 2008.

The Mysterious Mr. Maris: The Life and Times of William Maris (1781-1845) is Ziegler’s fourth book about early American History. His third work, Unfaltering Trust (2020), narrates the history of the Fitz Randolph family, which from its Pilgrim origins onward, has helped build America over the past four centuries. The Parrys of Philadelphia and New Hope (2011), his second work, tells the story of five generations of the renowned Parry family. New Hope, Pennsylvania: River Town Passages (2008), his first book, traces the history of the fifty most historic buildings and sites located in New Hope, Pennsylvania, a town that played a prominent role in the American Revolutionary War and during the nation’s early industrial development.

The most recent of his novels, Mozart’s Last Words (2022), is an intriguing story about a retired chief inspector from the Brussels Police Department who teams up with an MI6 agent on a frantic chase across Europe to recapture, from Nazi terrorists, a priceless fragment torn from the last page of Mozart’s Requiem Mass. Requiem for Riley (2017), set in New York City and Brussels, explores the mysterious disappearance of the Mozart Requiem Mass fragment during the 1958 World Expo in Brussels. Dawn’s Eerie Light (2016), his second novel, presents three intertwined stories of unrequited love. His first novel, Twilight of Separation (2013), tells the story of a young man who loses his faith but finds redemption in love.

Ziegler has also collaborated on a children’s book, Let’s Visit New Hope (2015), which presents a colorful look at Bucks County and early Pennsylvania history.
